A Day's Adventure (1915)
Over Bentley's shoulder, the crook read the lawyer's letter telling the young man of his inheritance. He immediately wired his pals. When Bentley arrived the girl scraped his acquaintance by the simple means of losing her bag, and decoyed him to the crooks' rendezvous, where he was overpowered, bound and gagged. The younger crook presented his credentials and was invited to spend a few days in the lawyer's house. That night he sought to burglarize the safe and was captured. Hagan, watching through the window, saw the need of quick action, waylaid the policeman on the beat and took his uniform. Thus disguised, he answered the call for help and bore his confederate off in triumph. The trick discovered, the lawyer went to the police station. There he met Bentley, who had wormed out of his bonds and escaped. Bentley led the police to the crooks' rendezvous, arriving just as they discover his escape, and after a struggle the crooks were captured.
