About Colonia is the story of Colonia, a nineteen-year-old nursing student who lives in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn with her eccentric and religiously conservative single mother, Lucía. Lucía has only one wish for her daughter; that she marries a soldier and put herself on the stable path to a pension and the American Dream. As a first-generation immigrant from the Caribbean raised in New York City, Colonia yearns for more.
