Penang is a state in northwest Malaysia comprising mainland Seberang Perai and Penang Island. On the island, the state capital of George Town is home to landmarks such as colonial Fort Cornwallis, the ornate Chinese clan house Khoo Kongsi and the Kapitan Keling Mosque, all testaments to centuries of foreign influence. To the west, a funicular ascends Penang Hill, with its trails, flower gardens and panoramic views.

Ubud District is a district in Gianyar Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Its area is 42.38 km² and the population was 69,323 people as of 2010 census; the latest official estimate is 74,320. but at any given time there are large numbers of temporary residents and tourists.

Malacca City (also spelled Melaka) is the capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in southwestern Malaysia. At its center, Jonker Street, Chinatown’s main thoroughfare, is known for antique shops and its night market. Nearby, the 17th-century Chinese Cheng Hoon Teng temple has ornate decorations and multiple prayer halls. A green, 3-tiered roof tops the 18th-century, Javanese-influenced Kampung Kling Mosque.

Boone is a town in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. In Daniel Boone Park, the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum re-creates 1700s homestead life. Also in the park, the long-running seasonal drama “Horn in the West” evokes the struggles of pioneers like Boone. The Blue Ridge Parkway winds past town, offering mountain views. Nearby, Grandfather Mountain features a high suspension footbridge and a nature museum.
