Plot summary

Bhâko is a fictional film that contains the lives of tobacco farmers in Jember Regency. This film is a portrait of the anxiety of tobacco farmers who are vulnerable to price plays at the level of buyers (middlemen) and tobacco warehouses. This is close to everyday life and is my own experience. The reason for choosing the title of Bhâko in this film is because most of the traditional tobacco farmers reside in the northern part of Jember. Kalisat, Ledokombo, Sumberjambe, is an area with the most traditional tobacco production in Jember Regency. The northern part of Jember Regency is inhabited by many Madurese speakers. Therefore, I use the title Bhâko which is the Madurese language of tobacco. This is also the reason why I use Madura as the main language in this film. The story in the film Bhâko begins with the conflict of children and fathers who contrast ideals and pragmatism. Fauzi, the son of Mr. Imam believes that the system that has been maintained by tobacco actors, is very detrimental to farmers including his father. Yoyon, who is a farm laborer from Pak Imam, has hopes that in the tobacco season this time, he will have enough wages to treat his paralyzed wife. Whereas Pak Mul is a middleman who often deceives farmers who are less educated, to get big profits so they can pay for their children's school fees and pay off their debts. Three issues are related and each has the same background, so I have an idea to work on this film by using a multi-plot plot. By using a multi-plot plot, the problem with tobacco will increasingly look complex, dramatic, and display the complexity and expectations of many people towards tobacco products. The purpose of this film includes photographing the hopes of the farmers, also with obstacles and problems that are very complicated and not only experienced by one actor, but in all lines have their own problems, but can lead to new problems for other actors. The film also tells how it would be if the farmers put up a fight but without massive power. This film can be a reflection for the culprit and information as well as telling stories about what actually happened dramatically to the audience.
