Plot summary

Pop star Mirko Mortauk delivered the party anthem for a whole generation. When he comes on stage, the loyal fans want to hear his hit "Bingo" and party like they did back in the 1990s. That was quite a while ago, so Mirko is deep in the career and life crisis. Not even his discoverer Siggi shows any interest in new songs. The well-versed manager wants to catapult his falling hit star back to the top of the charts with a rap remix of "Bingo". In order to work undisturbed in the studio, Siggi sends his burned-out protégé on home leave. At home in Sankt Maiwald in Bavaria, where even a street is named after him, Mirko should regain his strength. Unfortunately, the reception there is anything but friendly. Mirko's siblings and his childhood sweetheart Rosa have not forgiven him for leaving everything behind to be successful. Mirko gets support from his parents: While father Borko relies on extremely hard boxing training, his mother gets him a mini-job. He is supposed to prepare the local choir for a singing competition and lead it to victory. However, the rehearsals are anything but promising and Mirko's former fame as well as his history at home prove to be a heavy burden when starting over. Only when he feels again what music means to him and what the people of his past mean to him - his family and childhood sweetheart - does the artistic knot loosen.
