"Boneca de Ataúro: Searching for the Lost Love" is an animated short film (20mins), in which the main character-a handmade rag doll called Ataurina-while looking for her lost boyfriend Ketilu, takes us into an adventurous trip across the island of Atauro. Throughout the journey, Ataurina encounters several dangers and meets other characters, all handmade puppets born from the same hands at the "Boneca de Atauro" (Atauro's Doll), the renown cooperative of 60+ women based in the coastal village of Vila Maumeta, in the beautiful Atauro island (Timor-Leste). The film was made pro bono-by award-winning filmmaker David Palazón-as a teaser for the cooperative's fundraising campaign; co-produced by Swiss artist and the cooperative's original founder Ester Piera Zuercher Camponovo, and with the objective to obtain funding support towards the cooperative's most immediate educational and infrastructure developments. Additionally, the film also works as a tourism destination promotional film, showcasing some of the island most beautiful locations, and therefore promoting Atauro as new eco-tourism destination in South East Asia.
