It is located on the shores of rivers Tamiš and Danube, in the southern part of Banat region. Since the 2022 census 115,454 people have been living in the Pančevo administrative area.

New Belgrade is known for its Communist-era brutalist architecture, like the iconic apartment towers known as the Blokovi, and the immense Palace of Serbia government office. The Western City Gate consists of 2 concrete towers joined by a high bridge. Nearby, the modern Štark Arena hosts sports and concerts. Floating nightclubs, or splavs, are moored along the riverfront, and traditional Balkan grills dot the area.

Budapest, Hungary’s capital, is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest. A funicular runs up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town, where the Budapest History Museum traces city life from Roman times onward. Trinity Square is home to 13th-century Matthias Church and the turrets of the Fishermen’s Bastion, which offer sweeping views.
