Nicholas is a conscience-stricken international news photographer. Revolted by what he has seen in wars in Africa and Indochina, he leaves his job and his girlfriend to do sports coverage. While covering a rugby match between the French and Irish teams in Ireland, he runs into an ex-American girlfriend, and their affair begins again.
