Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, sits on the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager. It’s linked to Malmo in southern Sweden by the Öresund Bridge. Indre By, the city's historic center, contains Frederiksstaden, an 18th-century rococo district, home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace. Nearby is Christiansborg Palace and the Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle, surrounded by gardens and home to the crown jewels.
Lund is a city in the province of Skåne, at the southern tip of Sweden. In the cobblestoned old town, the grand, centuries-old Lund Cathedral was built in the Romanesque style. Nearby, the Kulturen open-air museum features replicas of buildings from medieval times to the 20th century. The Lund University Historical Museum displays archaeological relics from the Stone and Bronze ages, plus a large coin collection.
Iceland, a Nordic island nation, is defined by its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields. Aragon is a landlocked region in northeastern Spain comprising the provinces of Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel. It's bisected by the Ebro River, with the Pyrenees Mountains in its north. Aragon is known for its ornate, Moorish-influenced Mudéjar architecture, represented in the 1686 Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pilar in Zaragoza. The regional capital, Zaragoza is a commercial city of wide boulevards and arcades.
Berlin, Germany’s capital, dates to the 13th century. Reminders of the city's turbulent 20th-century history include its Holocaust memorial and the Berlin Wall's graffitied remains. Divided during the Cold War, its 18th-century Brandenburg Gate has become a symbol of reunification. The city's also known for its art scene and modern landmarks like the gold-colored, swoop-roofed Berliner Philharmonie, built in 1963.
Cold Lands (2019)
Cold Lands makes a personal journey through the images and cinema, guided by filmmakers and artist like, Theo Angelopoulos, Bego Vicario, Wim Wenders or Rut Hillarp among others. In this non-fictional road-movie their vision of what cinema is, of what is hidden behind the images, intersects with the world of beekeeping, architecture and the human landscape. Cinema within cinema and film locations that acquire new meanings when revisited by the contemporary gaze. From the landscapes of the interior, burnt by the sun, passing through the blue light of the northern lands, the film reflects on cinematographic archives, their validity and their importance as a cultural treasure. At the same time, it gives filmic archaeology a new meaning by making it interact with images of the present. Cold Lands is a journey through the meanings acquired by what is offstage in the landscapes appropriated by cinema, through the questioning of nature by the filmmaker's romantic gaze. Cinema and real life are confused with each other, in the knowledge that living is in itself a work of art.
