The Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, is known for its Atlantic beaches and golf resorts. Whitewashed fishing villages on low cliffs overlooking sandy coves were transformed in the 1960s, and now its central coast between Lagos and Faro is lined with villas, hotels, bars and restaurants. The region's western Atlantic coast and rugged interior are less developed.
Almancil is a town and freguesia in the Loulé Municipality, in the affluent Golden Triangle region of the Algarve of southern Portugal. Almancil is known for its three Michelin star restaurants, the most of any town in the Algarve.
Comando (2010)
In a losing war for a nameless cause a soldier is sent to the combat zone to deliver a message from high above to the officer in charge. His mission proves to be harder than anticipated since the havoc has apparently dissolved any vestige of order or structure and every man seems to be fighting for himself. The soldier remains unyielding in his quest however; confident in the importance and relevance of the message he carries, hoping that it will contain vital information that will save his life and his comrades. But he might be in for a big disappointment... Command is a universal story about the armys chain of command, portraying how its rigid and allegedly efficient structure is completely shattered in the chaos of the combat zone, leaving the soldiers in the front line in a position of disorientation and despair. They no longer fight for a cause, only for their own survival. It depicts the contrast between the turmoil of the battlefield and the quiet peacefulness of the military base where the officers on top of the chain make decisions that will affect the lives of many from an outside perspective, a privileged position in theory, but one that can easily make them loose touch with the reality of the circumstances. The story is set in an unnamed war for an unknown cause at a hard-to-place period. It uses this non-specificity to hint its metaphorical and archetypical nature, trading realism for stylized and symbolic representations of reality.
