Plot summary

In human reactions to situations, emotions come bubbling to the surface, and they can either be impulsive without thought the result of human conditioning, or controlled if the person actually stops to think about what is happening, the latter usually a better option for all concerned. Several situations in the life of teenage Jeff Moore are presented on a typical Friday in which he is preparing for a triple date that evening in which he will be the driver. He is shown in chronological order with his friends at the drug store, dealing with his stalled car, with his mother and younger sister, and with his younger brother, each situation which can lead to Jeff reacting with anger, if so each subsequent situation in which the anger can build to a breaking point. But Jeff can either stop to think more rationally about each situation to deal with it in a controlled manner, and/or to stop the triggering situation from happening in the first place.
