Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.

Plot summary

Two thirty-something friends head out on a Friday night to escape the drudgery of their daily grind. Unfortunately, they miss the last subway home and circumstances lead them into an increasingly strange series of misadventures. They find themselves at a late-night party with guests ranging from artistic to insane, counseling a possibly unstable robbery victim, being accosted by the denizens of all-night clinic, finding a dead body and, most terrifying of all, confronting the exes who broke their hearts. Contact with the night's idiosyncratic characters ultimately brings the two to question what it is that makes them different from the people they see around them. They face the fear that distinctiveness and originality are fragile and possibly fleeting with humor, compassion, and friendship.
