Madison, the capital city of Wisconsin, lies west of Milwaukee. It’s known for the domed Wisconsin State Capitol, which sits on an isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona. The Wisconsin Historical Museum documents the state’s immigrant and farming history. The city's paved Capital City State Trail runs past Monona Terrace, a lakefront convention center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Cork n' Bottle String Band: The Ken's Bar Story (2007)
In 1996 the Cork n' Bottle String Band began playing bluegrass shows at the empty hole in the wall Ken's Bar. The agreement was for the band to play for pitchers of beer. By the end of that same year the band had packed Ken's Bar far above its capacity with people from all walks of life. The band played weekly until the bar was torn down in 2003. The movie tells this story with band interviews, fan interviews, bluegrass enthusiasts (including Country Music Historian Bill Malone), archived footage from Ken's Bar and a touch of humor that only the Cork n' Bottle String Band can create. Cameos include Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and former Badgers head coach Barry Alvarez.
