Switzerland is a mountainous Central European country, home to numerous lakes, villages and the high peaks of the Alps. Its cities contain medieval quarters, with landmarks like capital Bern’s Zytglogge clock tower and Lucerne’s wooden chapel bridge. The country is also known for its ski resorts and hiking trails. Banking and finance are key industries, and Swiss watches and chocolate are world renowned.
Ethiopia, in the Horn of Africa, is a rugged, landlocked country split by the Great Rift Valley. With archaeological finds dating back more than 3 million years, it’s a place of ancient culture. Among its important sites are Lalibela with its rock-cut Christian churches from the 12th–13th centuries. Aksum is the ruins of an ancient city with obelisks, tombs, castles and Our Lady Mary of Zion church.
Do you remember me? (2022)
Sara (28) was 7 when she was circumcised in Harar, Ethiopia. «In this moment I lost my childhood», she says. Sara, who meanwhile lives in Switzerland, decides to seek and confront her circumciser to process her trauma. She travels to Ethiopia and succeeds to find the woman who had cut her. «Do you remember me?», she asks. She does. But the circumciser doesn't feel guilty at all. Nevertheless Sara succeeds to forgive her circumciser. This is a story about pain and loss of trust. But this is also a story about forgiveness, empowerment and finding inner peace.
