Comodoro Rivadavia, often shortened to Comodoro, is a city in the Patagonian province of Chubut in southern Argentina, located on the San Jorge Gulf, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean, at the foot of the Chenque Hill.
Mar del Plata is a resort city on Argentina’s Atlantic coast. Its long string of beaches includes the wide Punta Mogotes and Playa Grande, with its surf breaks. Behind Playa Grande, the tree-lined streets of the Los Troncos neighborhood have elegant early-20th-century houses that are now museums. These include the Roberto T. Barili History Museum, which traces the city’s past through photographs and objects.
Moscow, on the Moskva River in western Russia, is the nation’s cosmopolitan capital. In its historic core is the Kremlin, a complex that’s home to the president and tsarist treasures in the Armoury. In 1991, with the dissolution of the USSR, the fishing vessel in which Viktor works is abandoned in Mar del Plata. Without direction and without nation, the sailor undertakes the challenge of surviving in a strange country. Twenty years later, without having returned to his homeland and the family he left behind, he continues to fight to survive in exile.
