Lis and her adoptive brother Daniel live in a small Swiss village on the Jura heights. At the villages slaughterhouse they witness a black horse called Luzifer, a former racehorse. Lucifer has an aggressive character and is difficult to control, therefore he was brought to the slaughterhouse. Because of a clumsy gesture Daniel makes, the black horse is frightened and flees. But Daniel can successfully taming Lucifer and brings him back. Lis persuades her father to buy the horse. Lis, Daniel and Lucifer become inseparable friends. After an arson, for which Lucifer is he culprit, Daniel flees with him to France. In the southern part of France he will begin a new life.
