Tongyeong is a port city on the southern coast of South Korea. It’s known for its pivotal role in the country’s maritime past. The 17th-century Tongyeong Sebyeonggwan Hall, a former naval command post, is a grand wooden building with red pillars. In Gangguan Port, Geobukseon is a full-size replica of a 16th-century wooden warship. Exhibits at the History Museum of Tongyeong City include dinosaur egg fossils.

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, high-tech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. Notable attractions include futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a convention hall with curving architecture and a rooftop park; Gyeongbokgung Palace, which once had more than 7,000 rooms; and Jogyesa Temple, site of ancient locust and pine trees.
