Kofu is a city in central Japan. In its center, Takeda Shrine sits on the site of a revered 16th-century general's former home. Nearby are the ruins of Kofu Castle. The Yumura Onsen area is home to hot-spring spas. North, the Arakawa River runs through Shosenkyo Gorge, known for its vibrant autumn foliage. A trail leads to Sengataki Waterfall. A cable car runs up to Mount Rakanji, which offers views of Mount Fuji.
Yamanashi is a Japanese prefecture to the southwest of Tokyo on the island of Honshu. It encompasses the northern part of Mount Fuji, where hundreds of thousands of visitors climb to the summit every year. In the Fuji Five Lakes area, resort towns surround the lakes created by the iconic mountain’s eruption. The region is renowned for hiking, climbing, fishing and skiing.

Follows the life of translator Hanako Muraoka; from the turbulent Meiji Period, to the Taisho Period and the Showa Period. Hanako Muraoka would go on to translate novel "Anne of Green Gables," by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery.
