Viedma is a city in central Argentina, near the Atlantic Coast. It lies on the Río Negro in northern Patagonia. In the center of the largely modern city, the Manzana Histórica area comprises the cathedral and other structures built by Roman Catholic Salesian missionaries in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Museo Salesiano Cardenal Cagliero, once the order’s base, contains the cardinal’s private chapel.
