Tralee is a town in County Kerry, in southwestern Ireland. It’s known for the Rose of Tralee International Festival. A glass wall in Tralee Town Park bears the names of all the contestants in that festival’s beauty pageant. The Kerry County Museum has galleries on local history and a re-creation of medieval Tralee. Nearby, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, Siamsa Tíre, puts on Irish music and dance performances.
Tranquil Ardfert village draws visitors primarily for its medieval and revolutionary artefacts. Tours are offered around the ruins of the 13th-century Saint Brendan's Cathedral and nearby Franciscan friary. This was also the birthplace of the 1916 Easter Rising, commemorated by the Roger Casement war memorial close to surfers' hangout, Banna Beach. Traditional restaurants and pubs dot the village centre.
