In the shaky and shifting political sands of postwar Czechoslovakia, a lad needs to keep his wits about him. This is difficult for the young hero of this movie, who is much more interested in girls than in politics. After getting a job at an industrialist's home, he promptly falls in love with the man's daughter. Meanwhile a communist girl has fallen for him. When the rich man leaves, he is presented with a choice.
