Once a thriving port on the Tagus River, the Alcântara neighborhood has become a busy nightlife hub. Trendy crowds converge on the waterfront eateries and clubs in the converted warehouses of Santo Amaro Docks, near the 25 de Abril Bridge. Nearby, funky bars, boutiques and art spaces occupy the vast LxFactory space. The Orient Museum shows Asian and Portuguese art, and vintage trams can be seen at the Carris Museum.

The steep streets of Alfama, one of Lisbon’s oldest areas, are lined with shops selling traditional crafts and cafes. Passengers pack the historic no. 28 tram, which winds through Alfama on its way up to 11th-century São Jorge Castle. Views from Miradouro da Graça terrace stretch over the city to the River Tagus. In the evening, melancholy Fado music can be heard in some of the area's long-running restaurants.

Visitors wander the steep cobbled streets of bohemian Bairro Alto to ride the Bica Funicular, visit lavish São Roque Church and take in the views from Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. Many of the centuries-old houses in the neighborhood are decorated with vivid street art. After sundown, a diverse crowd fill the hip, quirky bars, while the evocative sound of Fado music is heard from traditional restaurants.

Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city. From imposing São Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. Just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril.

Sedate, residential Pampulha borders Lagoa da Pampulha, a vast artificial lake. On its shores, the Museu de Arte da Pampulha, with Brazilian art, the Capela Curial de São Francisco de Assis church, and the Casa do Baile gallery were all designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Yemanja Square has a metal portal and a statue honoring an African water deity. Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport services only noncommercial flights.

Plot summary

Kilas is a pimp who lives happy with Pepsi-Rita, fading sex variety starlet, and both lives at the expense of his God-mother. Kilas is the elader of a small gang of tough guys, and the police is too busy to care. A mysterious Major - eventually from the secret police - approaches Kilas in order that his gang will set up a discreet vigilance on the house of a notorious anti-fascist person. Kilas is only happy to oblige, as he is being paid for the guys' work - until the contract is upped to place a bomb in the house. Now, that's too much even for a low pimp like Kilas! But - meanwhile he has a love dispute to settle with that house's owner; and that is a real psychological conflict that Kilas would wish not to have...
