Fohnsdorf is a municipality in the district of Murtal in Styria, Austria.

Styria is a mountainous, forested state in southern Austria, known for its wine, spas and castles. Graz, the riverside state capital, blends Renaissance and baroque architecture with modern designs such as Murinsel, an artificial island made of glass and steel, and the alienlike Kunsthaus, a contemporary art museum. A funicular runs up Schlossberg, a hill topped by the Uhrturm, a 16th-century clock tower.

Plot summary

In Fohnsdorf, Austria's largest village--which has a high unemployment rate because of the closing of a coal mine--under the Viktor Klima administration in the early 2000s, four friends prepare for a class reunion. They aren't satisfied with what they've achieved in their lives, and they keep on struggling in very individually unconventional ways. With odd scenes that don't seem to make much sense and very cheap special effects, this is a masterpiece that gives funny insights into the everyday lives of Australian twentysomethings in the early 21st century.
