Belogradchik is a town in Vidin Province, northwestern Bulgaria, and is the administrative centre of the homonymous municipality. The town is situated in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains just east of the Serbian border and about 50 km south of the Danube River.

Padua is a city in Northern Italy’s Veneto region. It’s known for the frescoes by Giotto in its Scrovegni Chapel from 1303–05 and the vast 13th-century Basilica of St. Anthony. The basilica, with its Byzantine-style domes and notable artworks, contains the namesake saint’s tomb. In Padua's old town are arcaded streets and stylish cafes frequented by students of the University of Padua, established in 1222.

Chioggia is a seaside town south of Venice, Italy. Traversed by the Corso del Popolo thoroughfare, its historic area has canals and narrow alleys. The Torre dell’Orologio S. Andrea is a Romanesque watchtower with a medieval clock. The Museum of Adriatic Zoology Giuseppe Olivi includes a display on local fishing traditions. On an island to the east are wide Sottomarina beach and Forte San Felice, a 14th-century fort.

Plovdiv is an ancient city built around 7 hills, in southern Bulgaria. The Regional Archaeological Museum chronicles the city’s history, with exhibits including mosaic panels, clay lamps and early coins. The Roman-era Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, which once seated around 6,000, now hosts opera and concerts. A 3D movie at the Emperor Hadrian–era Ancient Stadium re-creates Plovdiv in the 2nd century A.D.
