Sergeant André Surprenant leads an ordinary life in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine with her teenage daughter. His world changes when Rosalie Richard, a young woman of 18 years and mayor's daughter is found murdered and raped on a cliff by the sea. Inspector Gingras arrives from Montreal to try to solve the murder. Seeing that the police of the metropolis focuses on ambiguous facts and seems to seek a suspect predetermined Surprising decides to conduct his own investigation with his partner, Genevieve Savoie, who is secretly in love with him. All the villagers are potential suspects.
