Gibellina is a small city and comune in the Province of Trapani, the mountains of central Sicily, Italy. It was destroyed by the 1968 Belice earthquake. Carlo and Silvia are married for twenty years. He lives with a young lover, while Silvia lives in their original flat. Their 'regular' menage changes when also Silvia starts meeting other men, and in particular a young and violent neo-fascist. Carlo becomes obsessed by knowing everything about her wife's affairs and jealousy makes him blind.
