Mexico City is the densely populated, high-altitude capital of Mexico. La Romita comprises narrow streets around leafy Plaza de Romita and the neo-Gothic San Francisco Church. In the former home of renowned activist Rincón Gallardo, Casa de Cultura Romita is a cultural center with exhibits on the area’s dynamic history as an Aztec village and colonial settlement. Vivid murals adorn many of the area’s walls, and cozy cantina restaurants dish up quesadillas and fish tacos.
