Pérouges is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Eastern France. A medieval walled town perched on a small hill that overlooks the plain of the river Ain, it is located 30 km northeast of Lyon, historically in the neighbouring Rhône department.

Residential streets fill the low-key Buttes-Chaumont area, home to the landscaped park of the same name with its waterfall, lake, and city views. Food shops dot steep Rue de Belleville, which leads to Belleville Chinatown. To the west, the area includes Bassin de la Villette, part of the bar-lined Canal de l’Ourcq, which in summer turns into Paris Plages, an urban beach with water sports and entertainment.
