Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.
Montreal, mon amour, mon histoire (2012)
In may 2017, Montréal celebrates its 375th birthday. Five hour-long documentaries explore the French and British history of the city, supported by nearly one thousand photographs drawn from major archives as well as private collections. The city's powerful and prominent builders team up with many in minor supporting roles. Together they draw a stunning sketch of the first metropolis of Canada.
