Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital, is a major city along Montevideo Bay. It revolves around the Plaza de la Independencia, once home to a Spanish citadel. This plaza leads to Ciudad Vieja (the old town), with art deco buildings, colonial homes and landmarks including the towering Palacio Salvo and neoclassical performance hall Solís Theatre. Mercado del Puerto is an old port market filled with many steakhouses.
Paysandú is a city in western Uruguay on the Uruguay River, which forms the border with Argentina. Its Historical Museum has exhibitions of weaponry and photos. The nearby Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary is known for its huge organ. Gravestones and mausoleums adorned with sculptures of angels and saints fill the Paysandú Cemetery. Next to the Municipal Beach, the Río Uruguay Amphitheater stages open-air concerts.

Crowds registers Uruguay popular events, where thousands celebrate the phenomenon of union, moved by faith, passion, the overflow of the senses or collective memory. Our character is the crowd. His voice: the incidental sound. Through the eyes of eight directors we go through the different moods of the crowd. Crowds is an essential photograph of a fragmented and complex society, with its own folk elements and the profound components that make of all collective experiences a universal fact.
