London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.
My Grandson Charlotte (2019)
Charlie is a 15 year old kid from the inner city. However, Charlie was born Charlotte, and as he begins to make the social transition from female to male, the relationship with his father, Daniel, is put under strain as he struggles to connect with a child he no longer feels he knows or understands. From this parental disconnect blossoms a heart warming relationship between the transgender teen and his Congolese Sapeur grandfather. They connect, through very different life experiences, over their mutual understanding of what it is to feel like an outsider, and the importance of staying true to one's own identity, which they express through their shared love of clothing.
