Luísa, with papers in hand, waits for the elevator. Suddenly, a hurried woman bumps into her, causing everything to fall. To her surprise, the woman looks exactly like her. Luísa lives with the Negrão family, unaware that she was adopted. Her father, Henrique, and aunt, Natália, keep this secret. Luísa is ambitious, intelligent, and has a daughter named Margarida. She is divorced from Duarte but still loves him. Meanwhile, Leonor, Luísa's twin sister, lives in a village with their mother. She is expected to marry José Maria, despite not loving him. When Leonor meets Luísa in the city, their personalities and values being different challenge their relationship. Will they eventually find understanding?
