Pele's Appeal (1990)
In the swirling volcanic steam and misty rainforest extending beyond the Kilauea volcano in the Hawaiian Islands, two forces collide. Geothermal energy development interests, seeking ways to clear the rainforest for drilling operations, face criticism from native Hawaiians attempting to halt the desecration of the home of the fire goddess Pele. To them, Pele embodies the volcanic glow, lava, and steam, with her family comprising forest plants, animals, and other natural forces. However, the developers see Pele merely as a straightforward source of electricity.
