Buenos Aires is Argentina’s big, cosmopolitan capital city. Bogotá is Colombia’s sprawling, high-altitude capital. Amazonas is an enormous state in northwestern Brazil, covered almost entirely by the Amazon rainforest. The capital, Manaus, is a river port with landmarks dating to the late-19th-century rubber boom, including the Amazon Theater, a grand opera house. The city marks the "Meeting of Waters," where the blackwater Rio Negro and the Solimões River merge into the Amazon River.

Leticia is a city in southern Colombia, next to the Amazon River and bordering Brazil and Peru. In the center of town, the boardwalk has river views. The main square is Santander Park, with a pond and trees where hundreds of parrots roost. Neighboring Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace is a modern building, with city views from its bell tower. The Ethnographic Museum has displays on the region’s indigenous groups.

San Salvador de Jujuy, commonly known as Jujuy and locally often referred to as San Salvador, is the capital and largest city of Jujuy Province in northwest Argentina. Also, it is the seat of the Doctor Manuel Belgrano Department.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is Bolivia's commercial center and the capital city of the Santa Cruz department. It stands on the Pirai River in the tropical lowlands east of the Andes Mountains. Founded by the Spanish in the 1500s, today it's a cosmopolitan hub with museums, restaurants and nightclubs. Its historic core is anchored by the rose-brick Metropolitan Cathedral on Plaza 24 de Septiembre, the central square.
