Plot summary

This TravelTalks entry goes to South Africa in the Transvaal province. It shows how a native tribe in a small town near Pretoria emulates the architecture of the white man and their covered wagons (without the cover). The men farm, and the women sell beads to passing tourists. The journey continues inland to see areas that have not been influenced by modern civilization. The size of the stockade, the number of cattle, as well as the number of wives, indicate the importance of a Zulu chief. Continuing, the trek ends at the shore of the Indian Ocean, in the resort of Durban, "one of the world's outstanding pleasure resorts".
