A part of the Classic Veracruz culture, El Tajín flourished from 600 to 1200 AD and during this time numerous temples, palaces, ballcourts, and pyramids were built.

Ixmiquilpan is a city on the Tula River in Mexico’s east-central state of Hidalgo. The Church of San Miguel Archangel, once part of a 16th-century Augustine convent, has murals depicting Otomí mythology. The Hñähñu Culture Museum has displays on local handicrafts, and a garden with plants native to the Mezquital Valley. An elaborate Churrigueresque facade adorns the Spanish-baroque Nuestra Señora del Carmen Chapel.

Yucatán, the Mexican state, is known for its Gulf of Mexico beaches and Mayan ruins. Famed Chichén Itzá encompasses a massive pyramid, ball court and stone temples. Other Mayan sites include Ek Balam, noted for well preserved sculptures, and Uxmal, with its intricate carved facades. Yucatán’s capital and largest city, Mérida, has a Spanish colonial history reflected in buildings such as 16th-century Mérida Cathedral.

Plot summary

Mexican and Latin-American classic. Four independent stories based on writer Francisco Rojas Gonzáles's work, depicting the reality of Mexican indian people: Las Vacas, Nuestra Señora, El Tuerto and La Potranca. In El Tuerto, crosseyed boy is made fun of by his mates. His religious mother asks God to make the boy's eyes equal. The outcome is tragic.
