Isfahan is a city in central Iran, known for its Persian architecture. In the huge Naqsh-e Jahan Square is the 17th-century Imam (Shah) Mosque, whose dome and minarets are covered with mosaic tiles and calligraphy. Ali Qapu Palace, built for Shah Abbas and completed in the late 16th century, has a music room and a verandah overlooking the square’s fountains. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is known for its intricate tiling.

Irvine is a city in Orange County, California. To the east, Orange County Great Park features an antique carousel and a giant, anchored helium balloon. Visitors can ride the balloon up for aerial views. Trails wind past ancient sycamore trees in Bommer Canyon. The Pretend City Children’s Museum has a kid-size post office, cafe and farm. Impressionist art from around California is displayed at the Irvine Museum.

Santa Ana is a city in Orange County, California. It's home to the Santa Ana Zoo, with its monkeys, mini-train and walk-through aviary. In a Mission Revival–style building, the Bowers Museum displays a large collection of Native American art. The Discovery Cube Orange County is a children's museum with hands-on science exhibits. The Heritage Museum of Orange County features restored 1890s homes set amid gardens.

Normandy is a region of northern France. Its varied coastline includes white-chalk cliffs and WWII beachheads, including Omaha Beach, site of the famous D-Day landing. Just off the coast, the rocky island of Mont-Saint-Michel is topped by a soaring Gothic abbey. The city of Rouen, dominated by Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, is where military leader and Catholic saint Joan of Arc was executed in 1431.

A larger-than-life symbol of the entertainment business, Hollywood beckons tourists with landmarks like TCL Chinese Theatre and star-studded Walk of Fame. Highlights include Paramount Pictures, historic music venues like the Hollywood Bowl, and Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars. Scenesters can choose from improv comedy clubs, retro-cool bars and velvet-roped nightclubs. Locals frequent eateries in nearby Thai Town.

Downtown, comprising diverse smaller areas such as Chinatown, Little Tokyo and the Arts District, offers renowned art museums, cutting-edge restaurants & hip bars. Modern high-rises mix with architectural landmarks, such as El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the city’s 1781 birthplace. Anchoring the Music Center performing arts complex is Walt Disney Concert Hall, with striking steel architecture designed by Frank Gehry.
