Vibrant, bohemian Lapa is renowned for its traditional bars, live music clubs, dance halls and the open-air samba jams held beneath the Roman-style Arcos da Lapa aqueduct. Another nightlife hub is the area around the Escadaria Selarón, an iconic stairway adorned with a mosaic of hand-painted tiles.
