Part of the City of London financial district, Barbican centres on the Barbican Estate. The Brutalist 1960s complex is home to housing, a lake with a terraced cafe, and the Barbican Centre arts hub, which hosts theatre, classical and contemporary music, art exhibitions, and film. The Museum of London traces the city’s history. Remnants of the old Roman city wall, office towers, and smart bars surround the complex.
