The story starts with the trial and conviction of doctor Francisco António Barbosa Botelho, who is sentenced to 8 years in prison for a drunk-driving homicide. His daughter, Marta Botelho, swears never to see him again. Eight years later, as António is finishing his sentence, he aims to reconnect with his daughter and meet the widow of the patient he killed, all while navigating complex family and business dynamics.
