Makati is a city in the Philippines’ Metro Manila region and the country’s financial hub. It’s known for the skyscrapers and shopping malls of Makati Central Business District, and for Ayala Triangle Gardens, an area dotted with trees and sculptures. Ayala Museum houses the Filipinas Heritage Library and craft collections documenting the country’s history. The Rizal Monument is a memorial to national hero José Rizal.

Quezon City is located on the Guadalupe Plateau, just northeast of Manila, in the Philippines. Quezon Memorial Circle, in the city center, is dominated by an art deco–style memorial to former president Manuel L. Quezon. The surrounding gardens contain playgrounds, fountains and the World Peace Bell monument. Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center is a zoo and botanical garden, with a lagoon, crocodiles and peacocks.

San Mateo, officially the Municipality of San Mateo, is a 1st class urban municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 273,306. It is bordered by Quezon City to the west, Marikina and Antipolo to the south, and by the Municipality of Rodriguez to the north.

San Fernando is a Philippines city in Pampanga province, northwest of Manila. It’s known for its Giant Lantern Festival, with traditional Christmas parol lanterns. The railway station, now a museum, was the end point of the WWII Bataan Death March. The Archdiocesan Museum and Archives has religious and cultural artifacts. To the northeast, the Candaba Wetlands attract rare bird species.

Antipolo is a city east of Manila in the Philippines. It's known as a Catholic pilgrimage site. In the Antipolo Cathedral, the shrine to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage has a 17th-century statue of the Virgin Mary, and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Southwest, the Pinto Art Museum displays contemporary Filipino paintings and sculpture in tropical gardens and whitewashed, Mediterranean-style villas.

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a walled city in colonial times, is the heart of Old Manila. It’s home to the baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church as well as Fort Santiago, a storied citadel and former military prison.

Pampanga is a province in the Philippines, northwest of Manila. Nayong Pilipino, a cultural theme park in Clark Freeport, has replicas of major national sites. Animatronic dinosaurs roam at Dinosaurs Island nearby. A mountain trail leads to the streams of Miyamit Falls, southwest. Farther west, a turquoise lake fills Mt. Pinatubo’s volcanic crater.
