A dangerous criminal is arrested after a bumpy chase down the mountain. Since he is already getting dark, Inspector Ortega, a soldier and the malefactor are forced to take refuge in a mountain hostel, where they meet other people in the same circumstance. So, to pass the time entertainingly, those present explain various stories that deal with the influence of fate in people's lives. These episodes are the flight of a hotel manager after committing an embezzlement; the encounter in a mountain refuge between a skier and a mysterious woman; the gruesome story of a taxi driver and his afterlife passenger; the arrest of the criminal by the aforementioned Inspector Ortega and, finally, the robbery in a church of a figure of the child Jesus.
