Nagano Prefecture, in the center of Japan’s Honshu island, is known for its mountains, hot springs and architecture. Its 16th-century Omine Castle is now a butterfly museum. The Togakushi district has ancient Togakushi Shrine and weapons at Togakushi Ninja Museum.
Tobu World Square is a theme park in Kinugawa Onsen, Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan. The theme park contains over a hundred 1:25 scale models of famous buildings, including UNESCO-designated World Cultural and Heritage Sites, complete with 140,000 1:25 miniature people.
Quiet Kamigyo Ward is known as much for Kyoto Imperial Palace, a complex of classical Japanese halls and gardens, as for nearby Nishijin, a weaving district with traditional wooden houses. Artisans make and sell kimonos at Nishijin Textile Center, and the Orinasukan museum displays Noh theater costumes. Geishas serve meals and perform at Kamishichiken Kaburenjo Theater, with small taverns and soba noodle bars nearby.
