Plot summary
Henriette is in a forced marriage with Baron Hátszegi, and her heart's choice is a poor lawyer, Szilárd Vámhidy. Her hard life is further complicated by a mysterious black masked bandit, Fatia Negra, who is rumored by superstitious peasants to be the devil himself.
