Abertillery is a town and a community of the Ebbw Fach valley in the historic county of Monmouthshire, Wales. Following local government reorganisation it became part of the Blaenau Gwent County Borough administrative area.

Monmouthshire is a county in the south east of Wales. It borders Powys to the north; the English counties of Herefordshire and Gloucestershire to the north and east; the Severn Estuary to the south, and Torfaen, Newport and Blaenau Gwent to the west.

South Wales is a region of Great Britain lying west of the Bristol Channel. It contains the Welsh capital Cardiff, whose landmarks include Cardiff Castle and the striking Wales Millennium Centre arts complex in Cardiff Bay's waterfront development. The Taff Trail walk/cycle path links Cardiff to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Tracing Welsh history, St Fagan's National History Museum is northwest of the city.
