He is a trained athlete, was captain of the football team at college. When he was seventeen years old his father took him to spend his vacation on a cattle ranch in the west. One of the cowboys took a liking to him and taught him how to shoot, ride and throw the lariat. So, at the first tiff with Elsie, Jack hikes for the west, heralded as a tenderfoot, he is given a royal reception by the cowboys, but proves that a man's courage and daring cannot always be judged from the clothes he wears.
