The Passion of Andalucía Filming Locations
Málaga is a port city on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its high-rise hotels and resorts jutting up from yellow-sand beaches. Looming over that modern skyline are the city’s 2 massive hilltop citadels, the Alcazaba and ruined Gibralfaro, remnants of Moorish rule. The city's soaring Renaissance cathedral is nicknamed La Manquita ("one-armed lady") because one of its towers was curiously left unbuilt.
Granada is a city in southern Spain’s Andalusia region, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It's known for grand examples of medieval architecture dating to the Moorish occupation, especially the Alhambra. This sprawling hilltop fortress complex encompasses royal palaces, serene patios, and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty, as well as the fountains and orchards of the Generalife gardens.
Setenil de las Bodegas is a town in southern Spain. It’s known for its whitewashed houses built into the surrounding cliffs. The town's hilltop castle was once an Arab fortress. Torreón del Homenaje tower offers views of the town and countryside. The Centro de Interpretación Medioambiental del Olivar traces the cultural and natural history of Setenil. Southwest, the ancient Ruins of Acinipo include a Roman theater.
Estepona is a resort town on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. A palm-lined promenade, the Paseo Marítimo, runs next to the Playa de la Rada beach. Nearby are the restaurants and water sports facilities of Puerto Deportivo, plus a fishing port and the cove of Playa del Cristo. The whitewashed old town centers on the flower-filled square of Plaza de las Flores, home to the eclectic artworks of the Colección Garó.
