The Trump Card (1911)
George Petit is the son of a bank cashier, and loses heavily at cards. Thinking to recoup, he takes some money an'. bonds his father has been checking, and the proceeds are won by the gamblers. Overcome with grief at the anguish of his father. George commits suicide. His sister, Grace, is deter mined to bring to justice the men who have caused the fall of the youth, and directs the police to the palatial gambling den mentioned by her brother in his confession. Interesting scenes are shown of the quick transformation of such places into seemingly innocent clubs when the lookout gives warning. The police fail to find any evidence, and the girl devises a scheme to overpower the lookout before he can give the signal. Disguised as poor Italians she and a detective have an altercation in front of the den and he attacks her with a stiletto. Her cries bring the proprietor of the den to the front, and he carries the seemingly fainting girl inside. She quickly draws a revolver and covers the astonished men and forces them to open the door for the raiding police. who run upstairs and catch the occupants In the midst of their games.
