Botswana, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods. The massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve, with its fossilized river valleys and undulating grasslands, is home to numerous animals including giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
Gabon, a country along the Atlantic coast of Central Africa, has significant areas of protected parkland. The forested coastal terrain of its famed Loango National Park shelters a diversity of wildlife, from gorillas and hippos to whales. Lopé National Park consists of mostly rainforest. Akanda National Park is known for its mangroves and tidal beaches.
Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. Covering 1,972,550 km², it is the world's 13th largest country by area; with a population of almost 130 million, it is the 10th most populous country and has the most Spanish speakers in the world.
Siberia is a vast Russian province encompassing most of Northern Asia, with terrain spanning tundra, coniferous forest and mountain ranges including the Ural, Altai and Verkhoyansk. Lake Baikal, in its south, is the world’s deepest lake, circled by a network of hiking paths called the Great Baikal Trail. The Trans-Siberian Railway passes Baikal on its route between Moscow and the Sea of Japan.
Alaska is a non-contiguous U.S. state on the northwest extremity of North America. It is in the Western United States region. The only other non-contiguous U.S. state is Hawaii. Alaska is also considered to be the northernmost, westernmost, and easternmost state in the United States. To the east, it borders Canada.
The Twelve (2019)
In November 2017, twelve indigenous elders gathered at the United Nations in New York to create an energy of healing for the current state of our planet. Interviewing each one of them in their home contexts, we followed three of the twelve, who travelled for the first time from the isolated coast of Siberia, the mountains of Colombia, and the deserts of Botswana. Geographically diverse, the twelve elder's messages are unified what needs to be done to change the course our planet is taking. Mindfulness may be mainstream, but this film delves into the depths of what it really means to be human.
