Through the Motions (2022)
Through the Motions is an intimate, immersive sound and video installation exploring human engagement with Earth and nature. The film draws parallels between how we as humans harvest natural resources and exploit or trample them, with what we consider pragmatic and efficient. The piece features songs of purely-tuned microtonal guitar and voice by Maddie Ashman and is accompanied by a film piece by Clemente Lohr. Commissioned by the acclaimed Britten Pears Arts program, Through the Motions was originally designed as an installation with three large, separate, projection screens. It has now been converted into a single screen cinema package.
